Please join the Kentucky APEX Accelerator as we congratulate and celebrate the graduating class of the Turner-University of Kentucky 5th Annual Construction Business Accelerator (CBA) program!

For the last 50 years, Turner Construction has engaged local construction-related businesses in programs that share tools, resources and opportunities for growth and expansion. In 2022, Turner joined forces with its long-standing partner UK to bring the Construction Business Accelerator (CBA) to central Kentucky– and this was their fifth year of holding these sessions.

This month, these 14 Kentucky-based construction and construction-related small business owners completed a 12-week program designed to equip professionals already in the construction industry with more formal training:

  • Hagen Lannum, Bluegrass Data Communications, Lancaster

  • Boyce Elza, Busy Bee Plumbing & Septic Service, LLC, London

  • Justin Spears, Current Contracting LLC, Liberty

  • Steven Dunn, Dunn Electric LLC, Louisville

  • Yvette Goodwin, Elite Management Enterprise Inc., Louisville

  • Chris Moorehead, Flooring by Design, LLC, Richmond

  • Waymen Eddings, JLD Inc., Lexington

  • Noah Hembree, Hembree’s Heating and Air, Berea

  • Charles Jones Jr., Kentucky Brickwashers, Lexington

  • Linden Long, Long Construction Management, Lexington

  • Grant Needham, Northstar Management Contracting Co., Lexington

  • Rusty Page, Page Electric LLC, Winchester

  • David Holder, Rural Splicing LLC, London

  • AJ Istvanditsch, Sunny’s Plumbing Solutions, Nicholasville

The program builds upon participants’ hands-on knowledge with classroom sessions that further sharpen their skills in important construction-related areas such as site logistics, safety and specifications reading to risk management, bonding and scheduling. They also gain access to construction experts to foster networking and industry-level connections.

Participants were selected from an application process in March and attended weekly evening sessions at UK at no cost. Since the CBA’s launch in 2022, 79 business graduates representing 70 Kentucky companies have completed the program.

The CBA program is sponsored and made possible by these generous community partners: Associated General Contractors, Bullard, Commerce Lexington, Fayette County Public Schools, Lexington Fayette Urban County Government (LFUCG), Louisville Human Relations Commission, Lynn Imaging, Messer Construction, UK Economic Development Collaborative, UK Economic Engagement, UK Federal Credit Union and UK Procurement Services.
