Superior Maintenance Co. (SMC) is an award-winning business that has worked with some of the world's most recognized companies. For 30 years, SMC has provided a variety of services to its customers, including manufacturing sub-assembly, sequencing, sorting, and kitting solutions.
Since 1993, SMC has evolved from a small team in Kentucky to employing over 600 employees nationwide. This growth can be attributed to SMC’s development of the Superior Production System, which has a focus on quality and continuous improvement. Quality is the leading factor in why SMC has been successful in satisfying its customers for over 30 years. Aside from quality, SMC is also committed to maintaining a high level of service, integrity, and professionalism, as well as a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
SMC customers face challenges every day, and as a supplier, it is SMC’s job to develop solutions to those challenges. For over 30 years, SMC had only dealt with commercial customers. Then, in 2022, SMC leadership decided to expand specific areas of the operation and diversify into Federal Government contracting for the first time. According to the SMC team, working with the Kentucky APEX Accelerator (formerly KYPTAC) team has been nothing short of incredibly helpful. KY APEX Accelerator staff were readily available to answer all the questions SMC had while going through the processes of registration, market research, due diligence, and more. By partnering with KY APEX Accelerator, SMC has gone from ground zero to actively bidding on solicitations.
As a result of the Kentucky APEX Accelerator partnership, SMC has been awarded its first government contract with the Department of Defense. In the words of one of SMC’s executives, “This is only the beginning. We plan to continue to strengthen our partnership with the KYPTAC team and grow in this space.”
