As part of our program’s 10-year anniversary celebration, we’re spotlighting 10 clients. For July, meet the Hebron-based company that began working with the Kentucky APEX Accelerator this year: Gemba Services, LLC.

Driven by the official company motto to "Go Beyond Potential," Gemba Services bridges the gap between technical infrastructure resilience and human organizational performance. The company specializes in building resilient, high-performing organizational infrastructure through process-driven leadership development, capital portfolio optimization and workforce culture strategy.

At the operational core of Gemba Services is a suite of diagnostic monitoring tools designed to eliminate friction and maximize value right where the work happens. By deploying customized DISC Behavioral Assessments and workshops alongside proprietary Cultural Health Scorecards and strategic development, the firm evaluates and stabilizes the human capital operating mission-critical environments. Gemba Services treats organizational culture as a core infrastructure asset, proving that a high-consequence system or public entity framework is ultimately only as reliable as the human teams tasked with its daily execution.

The company’s interdisciplinary edge is anchored by the unique background of its founder and principal, Christopher J. Pavese. Holding an elite cross-section of technical credentials, including Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Project Manager (CPM) and Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Pavese infuses a rigorous, multi-layered risk mitigation architecture into every corporate advisory engagement.

Christopher Pavese is the founder and principal of Gemba Services, LLC – and a Navy veteran

Where a CSP protects physical life and asset safety, a CPM safeguards strict project timelines and multi-million-dollar budgets, and a PE enforces systemic technical integrity. Gemba Services unites all three protective disciplines to engineer bulletproof corporate pipelines, offering emerging technical experts an authoritative roadmap as they transition into demanding management positions and eventually executive leadership roles.

This unwavering commitment to standard-setting execution under pressure was permanently forged in military operations. As a U.S. Navy Veteran who served in Southwest Asia, Pavese experienced firsthand the absolute necessity of tactical discipline, chain-of-command clarity and frontline accountability in high-stakes environments. This foundational "boots-on-the-ground" discipline directly shapes the company's hands-on Gemba philosophy, driving consultants past the theoretical safety of executive boardrooms and out into the actual field, facility or operations center where real organizational value is generated.

This specialized approach underpins the company's signature methodology, The Academic Leadership Capacity. This framework focuses heavily on high-consequence system infrastructure, technical operators and operations managers, where highly technical experts are frequently elevated through management into executive leadership roles without a structured transition strategy. To bridge this gap, Gemba Services actively partners with regional academic institutions. Collaborating on electrical workforce training at Northern Kentucky University and Gateway Community and Technical College ensures technical proficiency is seamlessly paired with leadership readiness to feed the regional infrastructure pipeline.

With the strategic support of the Kentucky APEX Accelerator, Gemba Services, LLC successfully registered on the federal System for Award Management (SAM) and the Small Business Administration (SBA) to achieve formal certification as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). Backed by the market intelligence and procurement alignment provided by the Kentucky APEX Accelerator Procurement Consultant Lynn Louis, the firm secured operational confidence to actively bid a landmark $1.3 million professional development contract opportunity in the government sector.

“At Gemba Services, we believe that real excellence isn’t found in a boardroom - it’s found at the actual place where value is created. Navigating the complexities of contract procurement requires the same level of precision as grid modernization. The guidance, market research and strategic support from the Kentucky APEX Accelerator have been invaluable assets to sharpen our competitive positioning and accelerate our capacity to deliver measurable organizational change for our clients.”

Looking to the future, Gemba Services, LLC continues to expand its reach across government and corporate sectors. The firm is currently leveraging its certified SDVOSB status and proven past performance to establish major strategic joint ventures and partner agreements to position the company to bid a potential $100 million technical opportunity.
