Defying Dementia Consulting LLC, founded by Jenny Jacobs in Bowling Green, Kentucky, grew from Jenny’s personal journey as a caregiver into a purpose-driven organization dedicated to cognitive wellness, caregiver strategy and dementia-friendly space design.
In terms of government contracting, Defying Dementia is exploring Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants through the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to share these strategies and research with paraprofessional caregivers in order to alleviate some of the burdens confronting front-line medical facilities.
Defying Dementia offers a comprehensive suite of solutions, including:
Proactive cognitive wellness coaching and personalized brain maintenance plans
Strategy consulting for caregivers and healthcare organizations
Designing dementia-friendly homes and care facilities
Leaning on more than 20 years of clinical and caregiving experience, Jenny and her team deliver tailored services that support individuals living with dementia and those who care for them—guiding clients through wellness journeys, operational consulting and environment optimization.
“It’s our mission to create meaningful connections, whether through a creative community event or an evidence-based wellness plan,” said founder Jenny Jacobs. “This is where the Kentucky APEX Accelerator comes into my planning. I am investigating SBIR opportunities, and the APEX Accelerator staff have been very helpful in assisting me in timelines and goals to move from the commercial arena and into one with government grants and contracts.”
Jacobs added, “Right now, we are also exploring public-sector partnership opportunities. I believe that Defying Dementia may be a candidate for local/state contracting for cognitive wellness initiatives, caregiver training or dementia-friendly environment design.”
