The Construction Diversity Accelerator (CDA) is presented by Turner Construction and the University of Kentucky in partnership with the Kentucky Procurement Technical Assistance Center (KYPTAC). The 10-week program is designed to give minority, women, and veteran construction and related businesses the skills they need to be competitive in their industry.

 

The inaugural cohort includes 15 Kentucky-based companies selected from a competitive pool of applicants. As part of the program, the participants will submit a mock bid based on an active Turner project on the 5th floor of the UK Hospital. There will be one mock bid winner at the end of the program.

 

KYPTAC will be the resource partner for the businesses enrolled in the CDA. Procurement counselors will assist suppliers with certifications, capability statements, and individual coaching in the areas of contracting and subcontracting skills to achieve lasting success.

 

“Our partnership with UK and Turner Construction aims to foster a collaborative environment where our community members can work together to increase equity and diversity in contracting and remove obstacles for historically underrepresented and disadvantaged small businesses. We do that by assisting in supplier diversity and socioeconomic certifications such as WOSB, SDVOSB, HUBZone & DBE while offering one-on-one consulting for all businesses in the Commonwealth for free.” said Nancy Brown, executive director of KYPTAC.
